Forges de Tarbes: Russia’s Artillery Superiority over Ukraine Putting Kyiv at a Military Disadvantage

Report: Russia’s Shell Production Rate Three Times Faster Than Allies of Ukraine

In Tarbes, southwestern France, a workshop called “Forges de Tarbes” is producing shells that are being used in the conflict in Ukraine. A report by consulting firm Bain & Company, as reported by Sky News, reveals that Russia is producing these shells three times faster and at a much lower cost than Ukraine’s allies.

The production disparity has put Ukraine at a significant military disadvantage against Russia. Experts predict that Russia is gearing up for a prolonged conflict against Ukraine, which could strain Western support for the country. Recent reports suggest that Ukraine is still being outgunned in key areas of the front line.

The conflict in Ukraine has led to artillery shortages for months as Russia continues its offensive in the region. The US, UK, and other European allies have struggled to keep up with the demand for shells. While a recent $61 billion US aid bill is expected to help Ukraine defend against Russia, analysts point out that the conflict has exposed weaknesses in the US capacity to produce weapons, ammunition, and artillery. They predict that Russia is preparing for a war of attrition against Ukraine, banking on the assumption that Western support for Kyiv will dwindle over time.
