In the Class AAAA quarterfinals of the state softball tournament at Caswell Park in Mankato, Forest Lake emerged victorious over Eden Prairie with a score of 5-1. In the opening inning, Forest Lake took an early lead of 3-0. However, in the top of the fifth inning, with runners on first and second, Eden Prairie’s senior outfielder Ayana Lombardy doubled to left field, scoring junior outfielder Claire Archambault and cutting the lead to 3-1. Archambault also made several outstanding catches in left field throughout the game.
Despite their best efforts, Eden Prairie ultimately fell to Forest Lake. They will now face Edina in the consolation bracket on Thursday at 9 a.m. in Mankato. The game was a fierce competition on the field, but both teams gave it their all.
