Ford Launches a Discount Challenge to Attract Tesla Owners: What You Need to Know

Ford entices Tesla drivers with $1,500 discount to switch brands

In an effort to entice Tesla owners to switch sides, Ford recently announced a special discount on select cars. Specifically, the automaker is offering Tesla owners an additional $1,500 off the purchase of an F-150 Lightning or Mustang Mach-E. The discount was first reported by Ford Authority and was confirmed by a company spokesperson on April 3.

Those who wish to take advantage of this offer do not need to trade in their Tesla; they simply need to demonstrate ownership. This discount, known as the “Tesla Competitive Conquest Bonus Cash,” will be available until July 8. In addition to the discount, Ford has also lowered prices on some F-150 Lightning trucks by $2,000 to $5,500, depending on the trim level. The starting prices for the 2024 model are currently $54,995 and $39,995, respectively.

Tesla’s Model 3 has a starting price of $38,990 while the Cybertruck electric pickup truck starts at $60,990. Ford has been facing pressure from Tesla’s price reductions over the past year and has been struggling to sell its electric vehicles. As a result, the company delayed about $12 billion in planned spending on its EV initiatives for 2023. Last year inventories of Mustang Mach-E SUV began piling up at dealerships and in December Ford announced a reduction in production of its F-150 Lightning before halting shipments due to a quality issue with CNBC reporting a resumption of shipments on Thursday.
