The international orienteering season is set to begin with the Orienteering World Cup 2024, and you are invited to follow all the action closely. The first round takes place in Switzerland this weekend, featuring a Knock-Out Sprint on Saturday and an individual sprint on Sunday.
A total of 250 athletes from 32 countries have registered to compete in Switzerland, including World Cup title holder Tove Alexandersson of Sweden, who is aiming for her 10th consecutive title. Last year’s men’s champion Matthias Kyburz of Switzerland will not be competing as he prepares for the Olympic marathon. For more information, check out the World Cup preview article.
Whether you are watching from the arenas in Olten or from home, there are plenty of opportunities to follow the competitions. High-quality TV broadcasts will be available on IOF TV and on national TV channels in Switzerland (SRF), Sweden (SVT), and Finland (YLE). Commentary will be provided in English by Katherine Bett and Jonas Merz, and in French by Robin Devrieux and Matthieu Puech.

Individual races can be bought separately for 9 EUR each. The Knock-Out Sprint qualification on Friday afternoon can be streamed live on IOF LIVE.
The schedule for World Cup Round 1 in Olten is as follows:
Friday, May 24th: Knock-Out Sprint Qualification at 14.00
Saturday, May 25th: Knock-Out Sprint quarter-finals begin at 10.00, with the semi-finals and finals following later in the day
Sunday, May 26th: Sprint final starts at 12.03, with a TV broadcast from 12.10 to 14.40
