Florida State Advances to College World Series Final by Defeating Virginia

The Florida State Seminoles emerged victorious in an elimination game at the 2024 College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, defeating Virginia 7-3 on Sunday afternoon. Jaime Ferrer ignited the Seminoles crowd with two home runs and four RBI, including a three-run shot in the fifth inning that helped FSU take a commanding lead. Despite being outhit 10-7, Virginia was unable to overcome FSU’s strong performance.

FSU’s starting pitcher Carson Dorsey delivered an outstanding performance on the mound, pitching into the eighth inning and recording seven strikeouts on 106 pitches. Virginia starting pitcher Jay Woolfolk exited the game due to a knee injury, with Joe Savino coming in as relief. The Cavaliers were the first team to be eliminated from the double-elimination tournament after a late rally in the seventh inning fell short.
