Florida Housekeepers: Earning Six-Figures in Demand for Domestic Services Amidst Real Estate Boom

Report: Palm Beach Housekeepers Earning $150,000 Salaries

In Florida, housekeepers are earning salaries of up to $150,000, according to a recent report by CNBC. The surge in demand for household staff like butlers, nannies, and chefs can be attributed to the rise in real estate prices in the Sunshine State as more millionaires move there from high-tax states like New York.

With wealthy homeowners competing for cleaning services along with hotels and businesses, experienced housekeepers are now making between $120,000 to $150,000 annually. This is a significant increase from previous years. The typical pay for housekeepers in Florida has risen from around $25 an hour in 2020 to $45 or $50 an hour in 2024 due to the high demand.

Household staffing agencies are currently experiencing a shortage of workers due to the surge in demand. Roles like butlers, drivers, and chefs are also seeing an increase in demand. The influx of wealthy homeowners has driven up real estate prices in South Florida, with Palm Beach seeing average home sale prices exceeding $20 million in the third quarter of 2023.

The lack of income tax and favorable weather all year round are some of the reasons why many wealthy individuals are relocating to Florida. Notable figures such as Larry Ellison, Jeff Bezos, and Donald Trump have made South Florida their new home, contributing to the growing demand for household staff in the region.
