Flames Ravage Iconic ‘Four Towers’ Palace in Bad Ems, Prompting Emergency Response and Historic Loss

City Palace “Four Towers” in Bad Ems (RLP) engulfed in major fire

In the historic city of Bad Ems, a massive fire broke out at the iconic “Four Towers” palace, which was once frequented by kings and tsars. Flames shot meters into the night sky, and a large cloud of smoke rose into the air, prompting 150 emergency personnel from the Fire department to battle the blaze since the early hours of the morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire is now under control with ongoing firefighting operations.

The fire in the 17th-century building started around 4 a.m. on Wednesday night, and firefighters were unable to access the building upon arrival as the entire roof structure was already engulfed in flames. Currently undergoing renovations, the house was supposed to become a hotel opening later this year. The “Four Towers” building, known for its four corner towers, holds immense historical significance as a popular residence for European monarchs, including Tsar Alexander II.

Bad Ems Mayor Oliver Krügel expressed his sorrow in an official Facebook video, describing the fire’s impact on the city’s cultural heritage.
