Leading Chicago Business Executive to Speak at SIU’s Paul Simon Institute

John W. Rogers Jr., a renowned entrepreneur from Chicago, will be sharing insights about his career in business, public service, and philanthropy during a “fireside conversation” with John Shaw, the director of the Paul Simon Institute at SIU on April 11 at 5 p.m. in the SIU School of Law Auditorium, Room 120. A reception will precede the event from 4 to 5 p.m. in the law school’s formal lounge. While registration is not required for the event, it is recommended for attendees to submit questions for Rogers in advance through the registration form or email.

As an entrepreneur who founded and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, one of the first Black-owned asset management firms in the US managing nearly $15 billion in assets, Rogers is expected to share valuable lessons learned from his career and firm’s mission during the conversation. His commitment to business success and community service has made him a respected figure in Illinois and American business communities. The discussion will focus on key concepts that drive Ariel Investments’ success such as active patience, independent thinking, focused expertise and bold teamwork.

Rogers graduated from Princeton University and hails from Hyde Park. He started his career early on displaying his entrepreneurial spirit by founding Ariel Investments in 1983.
