Smitty K’s Sports Bar & Grill on Highway 30 suffers fire damage

Brazos County Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department radio scanner traffic reports that Smitty K’s Sports Bar and Grill, a popular establishment in the area, is currently closed until further notice due to a fire that caused significant damage to the building. The fire broke out shortly after the business closed at midnight on Saturday, with smoke pouring out of the windows just after 12:30 a.m. A witness called 911 to report the fire at the location on Highway 30 near Bird Pond Road in Brazos County.

According to management, the fire started in the kitchen, although the exact cause is still unclear. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident, and management expressed gratitude for that fact. In a statement released to KBTX by Rusty Surette, Smitty K’s shared their sadness at the loss of their business but highlighted their thankfulness for the swift response of the Bryan and College Station Fire Departments, as well as the Brazos County Sheriff’s Department.

The statement from Smitty K’s indicated that the business will be closed until further notice while they assess and address the damage caused by the fire. The management expressed their appreciation for the support and assistance provided during this difficult time.
