Filling Gaps in Child Care Services: Missouri Women’s Business Center Launches Cohort

The Missouri Women’s Business Center has recently launched a child care business cohort in response to the state’s ongoing child care shortages. As part of this initiative, the cohort will meet monthly on Zoom to discuss critical topics related to the growth and success of a child care business.

During the first meeting on April 11th, Nadia Ryakhmyatullov, a business education instructor with the Missouri Women’s Business Center, emphasized the importance of addressing these shortages as they have a profound impact on the workforce. In fact, Missouri has several counties classified as “child care deserts,” meaning there is limited access to child care facilities. This issue is particularly challenging for rural families who struggle to find adequate services.

The goal of this child care business cohort is two-fold: raising awareness and partnering with existing child care resources to address the shortage of facilities. By working together, participants can develop innovative solutions that will help fill gaps in services and create more opportunities for families in need.
