FIFA Reveals Ranking of Brazil’s Women’s World Cup Bid: A New Era for International Women’s Soccer Hosting

Brazil’s 2027 Women’s World Cup Bid Receives Higher Mark Than Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium in Report

The FIFA evaluation report released on Tuesday revealed that Brazil’s bid for the 2027 Women’s World Cup received a higher ranking than the bids submitted by Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. This marks the first time that the members of FIFA will have an open vote to determine the hosts of the tournament.

Both Brazil’s and the joint European bid were deemed eligible for consideration as they surpassed the minimum hosting requirements during the technical evaluation process. However, South Africa dropped its bid last year and will now target hosting the 2031 event as well. The United States and Mexico recently withdrew their joint bid, stating that they will now focus on hosting the 2031 tournament.

Brazil has previously hosted the men’s World Cup in 1950 and 2014, but this would mark the first time a South American country hosts the Women’s World Cup. Germany hosted the Women’s World Cup in 2011, while Australia and New Zealand hosted it in 2023, marking a new record for multiple nations hosting one event.

The upcoming vote by FIFA Congress will determine which country will host the next Women’s World Cup, with Brazil currently leading as per recent reports.
