Fiesta Food Safety Inspections: Keeping Our Health in Mind while Enjoying the Celebrations.

Metro Health inspectors prioritize safety at Fiesta food vendors

Fiesta is a beloved tradition in San Antonio, bringing people together to enjoy delicious food and drinks. However, it’s important to remember that our health should always be a top priority during these events. A KSAT crew accompanied inspectors from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District to observe their food safety protocols at Fiesta events.

Environmental health officer Deborah Liu emphasized the importance of consuming safe food, especially when it comes to temperature requirements. She explained that even seemingly harmless food could become dangerous if it doesn’t meet certain standards. To ensure everyone’s safety, inspectors closely monitor vendors at every Fiesta event to check for proper food storage, hygiene protocols, and adequate handwashing and sanitation stations.

If an inspector finds any violations, vendors are given the opportunity to correct them immediately. Failure to comply can result in losing their permit and being shut down permanently. Attendees should also remain vigilant and report any concerns they have about food safety by calling 311.
