Fate of Iconic Starlite Drive-In Uncertain after Passing of Longtime Owner”.

After more than 70 years in operation, the future of Starlite Drive-in Theatre is uncertain

The Starlite Drive-In movie theater in Christiansburg, Virginia has been a beloved part of the community since 1952. However, the future of this iconic establishment is uncertain following the unexpected passing of its longtime owner, Peggy Beasley, at the beginning of their 71st season. Sarah Fink, a friend of Peggy’s who is currently managing the drive-in, stated that while the theater will continue operating as usual this season, its future beyond that is up in the air.

The management company holds a lease until the end of 2024, which will then be passed on to Peggy’s heirs. The decision on what to do with the drive-in will be made by the six heirs, as ownership has been passed down to them. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the fate of the Starlite Drive-In, there is still hope that a decision will be made to keep it running. Many in the community, including longtime patrons like Phillip McClellan, would hate to see the drive-in go.

For now, the drive-in will continue to show movies every weekend for the community to enjoy. The future of the Starlite Drive-In remains uncertain, but there is still time for Peggy’s heirs to make a decision. In the meantime
