In Lößnitz, Sachsen, a fatal head-on crash occurred on the federal highway 169 on Saturday afternoon. Two completely destroyed cars, a Citroën and a VW, were involved in the accident at the edge of Lößnig in the direction of Grüna, for reasons that are still unknown. A police officer and several firefighters were on the scene to secure the area. Unfortunately, help came too late for one person who died at the scene of the accident despite immediate assistance from eyewitnesses. Three other car occupants, including two children, were also seriously injured. One of the children had to be airlifted to a hospital, while the other two injured individuals were taken by ambulance.
The B 169 was completely closed as emergency responders worked to assist the injured and clear the scene. A total of 46 firefighters and 11 vehicles were deployed to handle the aftermath of the crash.
