Falcons Release OLB Ade Ogundeji Following Injury-Plagued Season

Falcons Release Outside Linebacker Ade Ogundeji

The Atlanta Falcons have announced the release of outside linebacker Ade Ogundeji. This move comes after Ogundeji, who was drafted by the Falcons in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, suffered a foot injury during training camp last summer that sidelined him for the entire 2023 season.

Despite missing all of last year, Ogundeji had a solid rookie season in 2021, playing in all but one game and starting in 11 of them. He recorded 33 tackles, two quarterback hits, one sack, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery. In 2022, Ogundeji started all 16 games and made 42 tackles with two sacks.

With this release, the Falcons’ roster now stands at 89 players, opening up a spot for a potential new acquisition. The team is currently preparing for the upcoming NFL season and will continue to evaluate their options to improve their roster.
