Falcons Urgently Need to Address Their Defense in NFL Draft

The Atlanta Falcons finished the 2023 season with a record of 7-10 and missed the playoffs. As they look ahead to the NFL Draft, they have draft picks in each round, including the 82nd pick in the first round, the 43rd pick in the second round, and multiple picks in later rounds.

Heading into the draft, the Falcons have identified their top needs as being EDGE, cornerback, offensive line, defensive line, and wide receiver. The team made a big move in free agency by signing quarterback Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million deal and added speed to their receiving corps. Despite the “best player available” mantra, there are still significant needs on defense that need to be addressed.

In terms of potential draft picks, some players who could be good fits for the Falcons include Dallas Turner, EDGE from Alabama, Terrion Arnold and Quinyon Mitchell, both cornerbacks
