The Falcons recently announced that backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke has agreed to a pay cut for the upcoming 2024 season. Originally set to earn a base salary of $5 million, Heinicke’s salary was reduced to $1.21 million. However, he did receive a $1.32 million bonus after the start of the new league year, resulting in over $4 million in cap savings for the team.
With Desmond Ridder now traded away, the Falcons are currently down to just two quarterbacks on their roster. It is likely that they will look to add another quarterback before the start of the season. Despite the changes in his contract, Heinicke is expected to remain as the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart for the Falcons this year.
