Falafel Time Closes Temporarily: Qutaiba Hassoon Shares Reasons Behind His Restaurant’s Immediate Shutdown”.

Falafel Time shuts down because of health and staffing problems

In an Instagram post, Qutaiba Hassoon, owner of Falafel Time in Portland, announced that the restaurant would be closing immediately. The reason for the closure was due to the health issues of his parents and a shortage of staff. Hassoon had started operating Falafel Time in October 2021 and it had been a successful business for the family. However, with his father’s health challenges, it became unsustainable to keep the restaurant running despite efforts to hire additional staff to support him.

Hassoon’s father, Saeed Saeed, had previously owned Haggerty’s, a takeout restaurant on Forest Avenue that served Indian and Middle Eastern food until 2014. This experience in the restaurant industry had helped them establish Falafel Time. However, the health issues faced by his father had taken a toll on the family, with both parents needing time to rest and recover from their exhaustion.

With the closure of Falafel Time, Hassoon indicated that he would likely seek another job outside of the restaurant business. The decision to close the restaurant was made with the well-being of his family in mind, prioritizing their health and recovery. Though the closure was challenging, Hassoon believed it was the best choice for their family.
