Fairbanks Summit Promotes Age-Friendly Community

Summit on ‘Art and Science of Aging’ hosted by Fairbanks groups

In the Fairbanks area, there is a growing concern about how to navigate the aging process. To address this challenge, Foundation Health Partners and the Fairbanks North Star Borough are hosting a summit focused on creating an age-friendly community. The theme of the event is ‘Age-Friendly Fairbanks,’ and it aims to improve the quality of life for older adults by examining various aspects such as housing, transportation, healthcare access, and recreational opportunities.

The summit kicks off with a luncheon on Thursday and continues with a full day of activities and demonstrations at the Carlson Center on Friday. The event highlights the dedication of volunteers and caregivers in the community towards supporting older adults. It also promotes healthy and active living among individuals over 50 through workshops and speakers covering topics like arthritis management and dementia care.

Carol Anthony, Community Partnership Manager at Foundation Health Partners, expressed her pride in the community’s commitment to creating an age-friendly environment. She believes that this summit showcases the level of care and support available to older adults in Fairbanks. For more information about this event, please visit Foundation Health Partners’ website.
