Exploring the Intersection of Art, Science, and Conservation with Cristina Mittermeier

National Geographic photographer motivates teenagers in Santa Barbara to protect the oceans

In Santa Barbara, a nonprofit organization called SeaLegacy is giving hundreds of students the opportunity to view the work of National Geographic photographer Cristina Mittermeier. Mittermeier has dedicated her life to protecting the world’s oceans and founded the International League of Conservation Photographers to advocate for conservation through storytelling. She also co-founded SeaLegacy, which focuses on the intersection of art, science, and conservation to restore the health of the ocean.

One local student who has been following Mittermeier’s career will have the chance to see images and hear stories from her travels on News Channel 3. It is a unique opportunity for students to gain insight into Mittermeier’s work and the importance of conservation efforts.
