Kasson-Mantorville Elementary School welcomed first-graders on Monday for a day dedicated to Earth science. The students received hands-on learning through various organizations, including 4H, an educational nonprofit, which taught about succulents and growing new plants in a “green shack.” The People’s Energy Co-op also provided insight into wind energy, while the Minnesota Agricultural Department helped with agricultural literacy. Science day at KM Schools is designed to give students a glimpse into future careers. Jennifer Kujath, a K-Eight high potential interventionist with KM Schools, shared that students enjoy the day and have fun while unknowingly learning valuable knowledge that they can take with them. In the next curriculum installment, fourth-graders will focus on careers in health sciences.
