Gospel Choir Competition to be Featured at Health Symposium in Jackson

The Mississippi State Department of Health is hosting a symposium on health and wellness, and it’s going to be held at the Jackson Convention Complex on Saturday from 8:30 am to 2 pm. The event will feature informative TED-style talks from health experts, free on-site health screenings, and a gospel choir competition.

At least eight choirs will be competing in the competition, including Anderson United Methodist Church Praise Team, Pastor J Artie Stuckey & VOR, and DOXAMUZIQ. Screenings will begin at 8:30 am, with the competition and symposium running from 10 am to 2 pm. Interested individuals can reserve a seat by clicking on the provided link.

The symposium is a collaborative effort between the MSDH’s Office of Health Equity and the Community Engagement Center of the Jackson Heart Study. The inclusion of a gospel choir competition is expected to add an enjoyable element to the event while raising awareness about important health issues.
