Exeter City Welcomes Back Demetri Mitchell with New Contract Amid Injury Setbacks

Last September, Demetri Mitchell scored the winning goal for Exeter as they beat then Premier League side Luton Town 1-0 in the Carabao Cup. This achievement highlighted Mitchell’s contribution to the team and showcased his talent on the field. Despite suffering a season-ending knee ligament injury in City’s Carabao Cup last-16 loss to Middlesbrough on 31 October, Mitchell’s impressive form and impact on the team did not go unnoticed. This led to the 27-year-old winger signing a new one-year contract with the League One club, Exeter City.

Mitchell made the move to Exeter in January 2023 from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian. Since then, he has made 33 appearances for the Devon side, scoring four goals. Exeter boss Gary Caldwell praised Mitchell for his contributions to the team and expressed delight in signing him for another year.

Mitchell also shared his thoughts on the club, expressing a strong connection and sense of belonging to Exeter. He commended the understanding of his injury and rehabilitation process by the manager and felt supported both professionally and personally by the club. This sense of camaraderie and support has made Mitchell feel at home at Exeter, making the decision to stay for another year an easy one.
