Exclusive Look Inside SpaceX’s Starfactory: Elon Musk Tours Tim Dodd, Showcases Raptor Engine Design and Serial Production Goals

YouTuber Receives Exclusive Tour of Elon Musk’s New Starfactory Facility

SpaceX’s Starfactory production facility recently received an exclusive tour from Elon Musk, who took YouTuber Tim Dodd, also known as “Everyday Astronaut”, through the massive facility located in south Texas. The production center has evolved significantly since its inception, moving from tents to a state-of-the-art facility that Musk believes will greatly improve the production process.

During the tour, Musk provided insights into the future of Starship rocket production at the factory. He shared that the facility will enable serialized production of the rocket with a long-term goal of producing up to a thousand ships a year. Musk showcased various sections of the factory, including the Megabay which houses three booster rockets, and highlighted the design of the next-gen Raptor engines.

The new design of the Raptor engines will feature integral cooling circuits throughout, eliminating the need for a heat shield. Musk emphasized that while it may appear simple on the outside, the engine is complex internally. He also revealed plans for completing Starfactory within three months, with multiple production stations fully equipped.

Musk expressed excitement about transforming the site from tents to a cutting-edge factory for Starship production. The facility represents SpaceX’s commitment to advancing space exploration and revolutionizing rocket production in the aerospace industry.
