As a group of distinguished guests, including first ladies and a lone man, embarked on a journey through Puglia’s picturesque Itria Valley, they were in for an unforgettable adventure. Among the visitors were influential figures such as Amèlie Derbaudrenghien, Britta Ernst, Yuko Kishida, Ritu Banga, and Heiko von der Leyen. The group also included other notable individuals like Cristina Capranica and Laura Marzano.

The tour commenced in Grottaglie, known for its ceramics district. The historic streets of Crispi and Caravaggio were closed off as the guests explored artisan workshops and delved into the world of traditional ceramic artistry. Nicola Fasano and Casa Vestita were among the locations visited, showcasing the rich culture and history behind the craft.

From Grottaglie, the group ventured to Alberobello to admire the iconic trulli, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Guided by Mimmo Palmisano, the group immersed themselves in the unique architecture and history of the quaint town. The visit drew excitement from locals, including the beloved elderly merchant Maria, who expressed her gratitude and warm welcome to the guests.

A sumptuous lunch awaited the travelers at a restaurant nestled in a former ancient oil mill, serving up a delectable array of local delicacies. The menu boasted dishes like tops (grilled sheep intestines), burrata (creamy cheese), bread gnocchi (pasta dough made from potatoes), Primitivo fillet (smoked eel), and the decadent dessert dirty muso (Alberobello’s specialty).
