Ex-NFL Player Jaryd Jones-Smith Signs with Atlanta Falcons for Depth on Offensive Line

Atlanta Falcons to add offensive tackle Jaryd Jones-Smith to their roster

The Falcons have reportedly signed free agent offensive lineman Jaryd Jones-Smith, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC. Jones-Smith was named to the All-UFL team after playing with the St. Louis Battlehawks in the UFL this past spring and also played for the Battlehawks in the XFL prior to that.

Jones-Smith originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018, signing with the Texans. Since then, he has had stints with several teams including the Dolphins, 49ers, Ravens, Raiders, and Commanders. During his NFL career, Jones-Smith has appeared in six games – three with the Raiders in 2020 and three with the Ravens in 2021. However, he has only seen action on two offensive snaps and 27 on special teams in the regular season.

The Falcons are currently looking for depth at tackle behind their starters Jake Matthews, Kaleb McGary, and Storm Norton. By signing Jones-Smith, they gain additional options that could help them out if injuries or other unforeseen situations occur.
