Ex-NFL Player Faces Charges for Road Rage Incident in Arizona

Terrell Suggs, former NFL linebacker, arrested in Arizona on assault charge

In March, Terrell Suggs was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona on two charges related to a suspected road rage incident that occurred at a Starbucks drive-thru line. The charges against Suggs include threatening and intimidating, as well as disorderly conduct with a weapon.

According to reports, the incident happened when Suggs backed into another driver’s car while waiting in the drive-thru line. An argument ensued between Suggs and the other driver about the contact made. After both men completed their orders, Suggs allegedly displayed a handgun out of the driver’s side window, threatening to kill the other man.

Video footage of the incident was captured by the other driver, who had an audio/video recording device attached to his car. A Scottsdale police officer identified Suggs in the footage and recognized him from a previous court appearance for a speeding ticket in December.

Suggs’ representative released a statement saying that he feared for his safety during the incident and was not looking for trouble. As part of his supervised release, Suggs will have to give up any weapons he owns. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 29 for a preliminary hearing.

Terrell Suggs is a former NFL linebacker who played in the league for 17 years and won two Super Bowls. He was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2003 and won Defensive Player of the Year in 2011. He was also a seven-time Pro Bowl selection before being drafted first overall in 2003 out of Arizona State University.
