Ex-Chelsea Manager Mourinho’s New Beginning with Fenerbahce: Helping Turkey Win Their First Super Lig Title in Four Years

Fenerbahce begins talks with Mourinho

In the 2014-15 season, Jose Mourinho led Chelsea to their last league title as manager. Since being sacked by Roma in January, he has been out of work. Fenerbahce, an Istanbul-based club, has announced that they have started negotiations with Mourinho for their head coach role. This disclosure was made public on the investor alert platform KAP as part of a legal procedure.

Fenerbahce recently parted ways with Ismail Kartal, their previous boss, after his team fell three points behind city rivals Galatasaray despite amassing 99 points in the league last season. The club stated, “Our company has started negotiations with Jose Mario Dos Santos Mourinho Felix for the post of Football A team coach.” If negotiations are successful, Mourinho’s task will be helping Fenerbahce win their first Super Lig title since the 2013-14 season.

During his managerial career, Mourinho has won eight league trophies in England, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. His accomplishments include three titles with Chelsea, two each with Inter Milan and Porto, and one with Real Madrid. He has also secured five major European trophies, including the Champions League with Inter and Porto, as well as the Europa League with Manchester United.

Mourinho’s most recent piece of silverware came in 2022 with Roma, when he guided them to the Europa Conference League victory. Despite helping the team reach the Europa League final the following season, where they lost to Sevilla on penalties, Mourinho was replaced by Daniele de Rossi in January. Fenerbahce aims to win their 29th Turkish championship but have finished as runners-up in the past three seasons.
