Everton’s Ben Godfrey Set to Join Atalanta for €10m Fee

Everton Player Scheduled for Medical Appointment, Set to Travel on Friday

Everton defender Ben Godfrey is set to travel to Italy on Friday to undergo a medical with Serie A side Atalanta. The process is moving quickly as personal terms have already been agreed upon between Godfrey and the Italian club, and the deal is expected to be finalized before the end of the month.

Last season, Godfrey struggled to secure regular playing time under Sean Dyche when all options were available to the Toffees boss. Despite interest from French club Lyon earlier in the week, Godfrey has expressed his desire to join Atalanta. Sky Sports News reported that Atalanta have reached an agreement with Everton for a €10m fee plus an additional €2m in add-ons.

Everton is looking to make some money as they work towards meeting the Premier League’s PSR rules by the 30th June deadline. With Godfrey’s departure, they hope to free up some funds for other signings or investments in their squad.
