Eriksen Makes History and Sets a New Record in Denmark’s Win against Slovenia

Eriksen makes a scoring comeback at Euros – were you aware?

During Sunday’s match against Slovenia at Euro 2024, Christian Eriksen made history for Denmark. At the age of 32 years and 123 days old, he became the oldest Dane to score at a European Championship. This achievement marked him as the oldest goalscorer for Denmark at a major tournament since Jon Dahl Tomasson scored at the 2010 World Cup at the age of 33.

The moment was particularly emotional for Eriksen, who plays for Manchester United, as it was his first appearance at a European Championship since experiencing a cardiac arrest during the previous tournament in 2021. In addition to his goal, Eriksen stood out by creating seven chances from set-plays, setting a record for the most by a player in a European Championship match since Gary McAllister achieved eight chances in 1992 for Scotland against Germany.
