Epic Induction Ceremony for the World’s Video Game Icons

World Video Game Hall of Fame ceremony to resume in-person

The Strong National Museum of Play will host the World Video Game Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the first time since 2019. This year’s ceremony, set to take place on May 9 at 10:30 a.m., will be held in the new rotunda at the museum.

The nominees for this year’s induction include classic games like Asteroids and Guitar Hero, as well as newer games that have had a significant impact on the gaming industry. Among the finalists are titles from a wide range of gaming eras, spanning four decades.

In addition to Asteroids and Guitar Hero, which first debuted in 1979 and 2005 respectively, the nominees include games from the 1980s such as Elite, Metroid, SimCity, and Ultima. Games from the 1990s are also represented by Myst, Neopets, Resident Evil, Tokimeki Memorial, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and You Don’t Know Jack.
