Englewood Health, a leading medical facility in northern New Jersey, is proud to be the first hospital in the region to offer patients access to a groundbreaking device that detects and treats precancerous anal lesions, significantly reducing the risk of anal cancer. The THD HRStation, a state-of-the-art technology specifically designed for this purpose, provides high-resolution videos and images of the anal canal to detect dysplasia, abnormal changes in the cells that can lead to anal cancer if left untreated.
With only 80 units of this device available in the entire U.S., Englewood Health is leading the way in providing immediate and effective treatment for anal dysplasia. Colorectal surgeon Peter Kaye at Englewood Hospital expressed his excitement about the innovation, emphasizing the importance of early detection and treatment in preventing anal cancer. Screening for anal dysplasia is recommended for individuals at higher risk, including those with HIV or HPV, men who have sex with men, women with a history of certain cancers, transgender individuals, and those with a history of anal warts.
Anita Ramsetty, director of health equity at Englewood Health, highlighted the hospital’s commitment to reducing health disparities within diverse communities. By offering this advanced service at the highest standard of care, Englewood Health is striving to make a positive impact on health outcomes for all patients regardless of their background or risk factors. This proactive approach to preventive care aligns perfectly with the hospital’s mission to provide exceptional care to all patients while promoting social justice and equity through its programs and services.
The introduction of this cutting-edge technology highlights Englewood Health’s dedication to staying ahead of medical advancements while prioritizing patient care. With its focus on early detection and treatment, as well as its commitment to serving diverse communities, Englewood Health continues to be a leader in healthcare excellence in northern New Jersey.
