England’s Mary Earps Sidelined Due to Hip Injury in Euro 2025 Qualifier Against France

Earps pulls out of England squad due to hip injury

England goalkeeper Mary Earps has been forced to withdraw from the squad for Tuesday’s Euro 2025 qualifier against France due to a hip injury. The 31-year-old was replaced by Hannah Hampton from Chelsea during Friday’s match against France, and later seen leaving the stadium on crutches. Despite the setback, England has confirmed that Earps’ injury is not too serious.

The Lionesses have suffered their first defeat in European qualifying since 2002, currently sitting third in League A Group 3 with four points. Manager Sarina Wiegman’s side is aiming to defend their crown at Euro 2025, with matches against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden to follow their trip to France. To secure automatic qualification for next summer’s tournament in Switzerland, the team needs to finish in the top two positions in the group.

Birmingham City’s Lucy Thomas has been called up to replace Earps in the squad for the upcoming game in France. The Lionesses will need to put in strong performances moving forward as they look to regroup and make it back into a winning streak before their next match against Ireland.
