England Secures Semifinal Spot at 2020 World Cup with Jordan’s Dominant Performance: U.S. Defeated

USA’s Cinderella Cricket World Cup journey halted by crushing defeat against England

The United States suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of defending champions England in the Twenty20 World Cup. England secured their spot in the semifinals with a dominant victory, with Chris Jordan playing a pivotal role. Jordan achieved a hat trick and took four wickets off five balls in his last over, becoming the first Englishman to claim a hat trick in T20 internationals. His impressive performance helped dismiss the U.S. for 115 runs in 18.5 overs.

Jos Buttler led England’s charge by smashing an unbeaten 83 off just 38 balls, including five sixes in one over against left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh. This helped England finish the Super Eights stage with two big wins and a healthy net run-rate of 1.992, solidifying their place in the semifinals.

The U.S., who had been on an impressive run until this match, suffered three consecutive Super Eight losses despite their valiant effort. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to secure a victory against England and were eliminated from the tournament.

Jordan’s hat trick at the World Cup made him only the second bowler after Pat Cummins to achieve this feat in the tournament. Cummins, an Australian fast bowler, also recorded back-to-back hat tricks against Bangladesh and Afghanistan earlier in the tournament. With England’s emphatic win over the U.S., they now wait to see if South Africa can secure a spot in the semifinals by avoiding defeat against West Indies in their upcoming game
