Engineering Hope: Samaritan’s Purse and the Fight for Clean Water Global Initiative

Samaritan’s Purse commemorates World Water Day

Samaritan’s Purse is a global organization that focuses on providing clean drinking water to people in need, no matter where they are in the world. Brent Kejr, an engineer who loves building things and solving problems, made the decision to move back to the United States three years ago to work with this organization. In his role at Samaritan’s Purse, Kejr helps design equipment used globally to provide clean drinking water.

One of the ways Samaritan’s Purse provides clean water is through its mobile units that can be deployed wherever needed. These units are capable of filtering water to make it clean and drinkable and can provide water for up to 10,000 people a day when connected to a fresh water source. Smaller filters are also available specifically for field hospitals to ensure patients have clean water for care and surgeries.

The organization’s mission is clear: prevent the outbreak of disease by providing safe drinking water during disasters and emergencies. Deputy Director David Phillips emphasized the importance of water as a life source, highlighting the need to be prepared at a moment’s notice. In locations like Ukraine, where the water infrastructure was damaged by war, Samaritan’s Purse was able to drill wells and distribute clean water throughout the community.

Overall, Samaritan’s Purse is committed to providing safe water to communities regardless of the challenges they face. Kejr and his team’s work ensures that access to clean drinking water remains a top priority during times of crisis.
