Empowering Young Women: Maria Regina High School’s First Science Fair Showcases Student Talent and Encourages STEM Interests

Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale recently held its first-ever Science Fair, showcasing the scientific talents of the students at the all-girls Catholic high school. Over 274 topics were presented, with the two-day exhibition taking place on the school’s iconic campus. The presentations demonstrated the students’ critical thinking, innovation, and intellectual curiosity.

The judges for the event included members of Maria Regina’s science department faculty, as well as distinguished alumnae and former science department faculty members. Principal Maria Carozza-McCaffrey (’99) congratulated the winners and participants for their hard work and amazing achievements, emphasizing the students’ interest and talent in the sciences. Reena Varna (P’17), chairperson of Maria Regina’s Science Department, recognized the students’ dedication to their projects and their ability to think like scientists, asking relevant questions, researching, and experimenting to present their findings. She also highlighted the importance of encouraging girls’ interest in math and science, noting the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields.
