WVU faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in a virtual Mental Health 101 Training, hosted by WELLWVU and the Carruth Center. The training sessions will take place on June 13 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or on July 16 from noon to 1:30 p.m. This unique training will cover important topics related to mental health and student wellness.

During the training, participants will learn about current national mental health statistics and WVU-specific characteristics, as well as effective listening skills. They will also receive an in-depth look at the services offered by the Carruth Center and the CARE Team, including warning signs of suicide and how to intervene safely with students who may be in distress.

The training is an opportunity for faculty and staff to gain valuable knowledge and skills that will help them better support students who may be struggling with mental health issues. By attending this training, they can contribute to a supportive campus community where all students feel valued and cared for.
