Empowering the Next Generation of Social Responsibility: How ‘Don’t Let Your Heart Tip’ is Helping CSR Professionals Prioritize their Mental Health

Leading Corporate Social Responsibility in Navigating Mental Health

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) of Atlanta recently held a special event titled “Don’t Let Your Heart Tip”. The event was co-designed and sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, a long-time CVC member and partner. The goal of the event was to remind Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) professionals about the importance of taking care of their own mental health while working towards uplifting others.

The event featured a variety of speakers and activities aimed at promoting mindfulness and self-care. Mindfulness and wellness coach Brianna Goebel led participants through a transformative breathing exercise, emphasizing the importance of pausing and realigning oneself during times of stress. Dr. Mary M. Pike, Psy.D facilitated discussions that encouraged attendees to explore their emotions and connect with each other on a deeper level.

Chef Asata Reid shared her expertise on the connection between food and mental health, highlighting the importance of nourishing our bodies with wholesome ingredients. Her recipe for Thai Cucumber Quinoa Salad served as a symbolic gesture of self-care through mindful eating. The event was a valuable opportunity for CSR professionals to prioritize their mental well-being and learn practical tips for self-care.

As we reflect on the event, it is hoped that attendees will carry forward the lessons learned and prioritize mental well-being in their journey towards service and advocacy. By nurturing our hearts and minds, we empower ourselves to continue making a positive impact in the world through compassionate actions.

In conclusion, “Don’t Let Your Heart Tip” was an insightful event that brought together CSR professionals from various backgrounds to discuss the importance of mental health awareness in their work lives. By taking care of themselves first, they were able to better support those around them while continuing to make positive changes in their communities
