Empowering Mental Health: Taylor Made Re-entry’s Journey to Provide Support to Incarcerated Individuals

Nonprofit organization hosts mental health seminar for inmates at Michigan county jail

Recently, a nonprofit organization named Taylor Made Re-entry visited the Genesee County Jail to discuss mental health among inmates. The organization aims to provide mental health resources to people during their incarceration, and many inmates in the jail face various challenges that they hope to help them overcome.

Percy Glover, who collaborates with Taylor Made Re-entry, has a personal connection to the issue due to his own experience of incarceration. He understands the struggles that come with being locked up and how it can affect one’s mental well-being. Together with Dee Dee Taylor, founder of the organization, they work closely with the Justice Department to offer the right resources at the right time to help inmates improve their mental health.

Taylor’s father was also incarcerated and her sister, Breonna Taylor, tragically lost her life at the hands of police officers. This personal experience has fueled her passion for helping those who are struggling with mental health issues while incarcerated. She believes that everyone deserves access to quality mental health care and support regardless of their circumstances. With this goal in mind, Taylor Made Re-entry offers a range of services including therapy sessions, support groups, and educational workshops on coping skills and self-care.

The organization recognizes that life after incarceration can be challenging for many individuals and aims to prepare them for reentry by providing them with the tools they need to maintain their mental well-being. They believe that by improving their mental health while incarcerated, individuals are better equipped to handle life outside prison walls.
