Empowering Communities through Economic Inclusion: The 3rd Annual Guilford Dialogues

Exploring Economic Inclusion: Guilford Dialogues Sheds Light on Disparities in the Strong Economy.

The third annual Guilford Dialogues, taking place on June 6-7, will focus on the theme of economic inclusion. This event brings together researchers, practitioners, policy makers and local residents at Guilford College to explore strategies for fostering economic inclusion and creating a space where everyone can learn from each other.

While national unemployment rates are low and the economy appears strong, not everyone is benefiting equally. President Kyle Farmbry emphasizes that an inclusive economy ensures that everyone has the opportunity to earn a living wage, start and grow a business, save for their families, plan for retirement and shape their own future. According to Farmbry, an inclusive economy is more than just creating jobs; it’s about providing opportunities for all individuals to build, maintain and pass on wealth.

Guilford College serves as an ideal platform for these important conversations. Farmbry believes that the college is a place where ideas can be cultivated and meaningful change can be brought about in Greensboro and beyond. Speakers at the Guilford Dialogues will highlight the value of entrepreneurship in the Triad region and explore various factors that contribute to economic inclusion such as workforce development, aging affordable housing and educational institutions role in bridging economic gaps.

The keynote speaker at this year’s Guilford Dialogues is Harvard University economist Raj Chetty who will offer insights on economic inclusion with his presentation open to the public on June 6 at 7 pm on campus. Attendance to the Dialogues is limited to 150-200 participants to encourage dynamic discussions rather than lectures; interested individuals can register online until June 5.
