Empowering Adaptive Athletes: Achieve Tahoe Receives $50,000 Grant from The Hartford

The Hartford grants Achieve Tahoe $50,000 for adaptive sports equipment acquisition

Achieve Tahoe, a nonprofit organization in Northern California, has recently received a $50,000 grant from The Hartford’s Adaptive Sports program. This grant has enabled the organization to purchase new adaptive sports equipment for kayaking, archery, hiking, and climbing programs for individuals with disabilities. As a member of the Move United Network, Achieve Tahoe aims to better serve those with physical disabilities through enhanced programming and equipment.

The Hartford surprised 19-year-old Bass Mansour with a custom-fit adaptive waterski. This equipment will help Bass achieve his goal of completing a waterski slalom course while spending more time on the water with his family. The grant from The Hartford will enable Achieve Tahoe to expand several programs and increase their capacity to serve more athletes with disabilities.

Haakon Lang-Ree, the Executive Director of Achieve Tahoe, expressed excitement about the new equipment and how it will make adaptive sports more accessible to athletes with disabilities. “We are thrilled to receive this grant from The Hartford,” said Lang-Ree. “This funding will allow us to offer more programs and provide better equipment for our athletes with disabilities.”

The Hartford has been supporting adaptive sports for nearly 30 years and is committed to making sports and equipment more accessible. The company donates equipment to local sports clubs, raises awareness about equity in sports, and hosts competitive adaptive sports events through The Hartford’s Competition Series.
