Great Britain’s Emily Campbell, who won a silver medal in the 2020 Tokyo Games, will be the sole weightlifter representing Team GB at the upcoming 2024 Paris Games. Competing in the +81kg category, Campbell made history by becoming the first British woman to win a weightlifting medal at the Olympics.
Looking forward to Paris, Campbell expressed her excitement for the upcoming Games, stating, “Paris is set to be a very special Games and I cannot wait to get out there and put on a show.” Team GB’s chef de mission, Mark England, praised Campbell for her impact at the Tokyo Games, highlighting her ability to inspire young people, especially young girls, to try weightlifting and see it as a sport for everyone.
The weightlifting events in Paris are scheduled to take place from 7-11 August, with Campbell set to compete in the +81kg category on the final day. With her historic achievement in Tokyo behind her, Campbell is ready to take on the challenge of the Paris Games and showcase her talent on the world stage once again.
