Emilia Romagna President to Run for European Elections: Stefano Bonaccini to Lead the Fight for a Better Future of Europe

The Emilia Romagna region’s president, Stefano Bonaccini, has announced his plans to run for the European elections as a candidate for the Democratic Party in the North East constituency. This decision was confirmed by Elly Schlein, the Democratic Party’s secretary, who highlighted the importance of leveraging all available resources for a better future of Europe. Schlein praised Bonaccini’s ten-year experience as president and his role within the party, stating that he is well-equipped to lead the fight for the kind of Europe they wish to build.

In a video message, Bonaccini expressed gratitude for this opportunity to represent his constituency. He looked back on his tenure as president of Emilia Romagna, highlighting their achievements and challenges. Despite early difficulties, the region has emerged as an economic powerhouse within Italy.

Bonaccini emphasized his belief in a united Europe and underscored its importance in shaping a brighter future for both Italy and Europe. He highlighted that European cooperation has been vital to Emilia Romagna’s success and particularly its businesses in exports. By running for the European elections, he hopes to contribute towards creating a better future for everyone.

Bonaccini framed this decision as a new chapter in his political career rather than an end to his current responsibilities. He expressed optimism about what lies ahead while underscoring his commitment to continue working towards the common good of both Emilia Romagna and Europe.

Elly Schlein said that she believes Bonaccini will make an excellent candidate for Italy’s North East constituency due to his vast experience as regional president and strong leadership skills.

Schlein also noted that Bonaccini’s time serving as Emilia Romagna’s leader had positioned him perfectly to take on this new challenge.

“Stefano Bonaccini is one of our party’s most respected leaders,” she said. “We are confident he will bring valuable experience and insight into this crucial election.”
