Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump have recently discussed the possibility of Musk influencing policies related to border security and the economy, as well as investing in a data-based project to prevent election fraud and an influence campaign against President Biden’s re-election campaign. Despite previously trading insults in public, Trump and Musk have developed a friendly relationship in recent months, with frequent phone calls discussing topics such as immigration, technology, and the US space force.
During a meeting at Nelson Peltz’s estate in Palm Beach, Florida, Musk, Peltz, and Trump discussed plans for Musk to potentially serve as an advisor in the Trump administration. Musk and Peltz also described a project to prevent election fraud using data analytics, echoing Trump’s claims of fraud in the 2020 election.
Musk’s potential adviser role would mirror the role held by Yitzhak Perlmutter in Trump’s first term, advising the Department of Veterans Affairs alongside other associates of Trump. The discussions between Musk and Peltz with Trump indicate a growing relationship and potential collaboration on political and policy issues, with Musk using his influence in business and technology circles to support Trump’s agenda.
