Efforts to Level the Playing Field: How NBC4, Besa and “Leveling the Playing Field” are Providing Opportunities for Local Kids through Team Sports

Providing Sports Equipment to Leagues and Players to Ensure Fair Competition

NBC4 and Besa are teaming up with an organization called “Leveling the Playing Field” to support local kids this summer. The goal of this initiative is to provide equipment to local coaches and leagues, ensuring that all children have access to team sports, regardless of financial barriers.

The cost of participating in team sports can be prohibitive for some families, which is why “Leveling the Playing Field” offers equipment for free. All equipment is donated and distributed by a small staff of one person, who relies on volunteers to help sort and inventory the gear.

Eric Rutkowski from “Leveling the Playing Field” emphasized the importance of volunteer support in making this initiative possible. With the help of organizations like Besa, the community can come together to ensure that all children have the opportunity to participate in team sports. On June 27th, volunteers are needed to sort equipment and donations of gently used sports equipment are also welcome.

By partnering with NBC4 and Besa, “Leveling the Playing Field” aims to level the playing field for all children, giving them the chance to enjoy the benefits of team sports. Join the effort by volunteering or donating today.
