Remake of Silent Hill 2 set to release on PC and PS5 in October

The eagerly anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2 is set to hit the PS5 console and PC starting October 8th. Developed by Bloober Team, the new version follows the story of James Sunderland, a writer who travels to Silent Hill in search of his wife, who he believed to be deceased. This remake promises to bring a modernized gameplay style and perspective to the classic title, enhanced by features such as 3D audio, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller.

During Sony’s State of Play event in May, a new trailer was unveiled showcasing the revamped gameplay of the game. Unlike the original version developed in-house by Konami, this remake is being handled by Bloober Team, renowned for their work on titles like Layers of Fear and The Medium. Following the State of Play presentation, Konami held a Silent Hill Transmission event with a strong focus on Silent Hill 2.

Throughout the 13-minute presentation, gameplay sequences were showcased featuring intense combat scenes, classic moments from the original game and other elements that made Silent Hill 2 unforgettable. The new gameplay is designed to fully leverage the technical capabilities of PS5 with features such as 3D audio creating an immersive experience by providing players with realistic three-dimensional sound. Haptic feedback will offer heightened sensitivity and tactile immersion while adaptive triggers on DualSense controller will dynamically respond to player actions enhancing overall gameplay experience.
