Edinson Cavani: Uruguayan Football Legend Announces Retirement from International Duty at Age 37

In a heartfelt announcement on social media, Uruguayan football star Edinson Cavani has announced his retirement from international football at the age of 37. After 16 years of representing his country on the field, Cavani, also known as “El Matador,” has decided to focus on the next stage of his illustrious career.

During his time with the national team, Cavani became Uruguay’s second all-time leading scorer and third most-capped player with an impressive record of 58 goals in 136 appearances. In his message dedicated to his “beloved Celeste,” Cavani expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to wear the Uruguayan shirt and represent his country.

Cavani made his debut for Uruguay in 2008 and went on to participate in four World Cups. His standout moment came in 2010 when he helped lead the team to the semi-finals and was named the tournament’s best player. Another highlight of his international career was the 2011 Copa America victory in neighboring Argentina.

Throughout his career, Cavani has played for notable clubs such as Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and now currently with Argentinian club Boca Juniors. Despite retiring from international football, Cavani expressed continued support for the national team and will always hold a special place in their hearts as they continue to compete on the world stage.
