Economic Uncertainty for Democrats: Pew Research Survey Reveals Decrease in Positive View of American Economy

A recent Pew Research survey has revealed that the number of Democrats with a positive view of the American economy is decreasing, despite the White House’s messaging about promising trends in wages and prices. The survey, conducted between May 13 and 19, found that only 37% of Democrats believe the economy is in good or excellent shape, down from 44% in January.

During a press conference on May 15, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre acknowledged the challenges many American families are facing while highlighting the macroeconomic progress made by the administration. She emphasized the commitment to fighting inflation in order to address these issues.

President Biden often criticizes former President Trump for the unemployment spike during his presidency, citing it as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Biden has also referenced data showing that Trump lost more jobs than any administration since Herbert Hoover, underscoring the importance of economic recovery efforts.

The White House and Biden campaign frequently post about job gains on social media since Biden took office, but these posts are scrutinized and fact-checked by various systems. For story ideas or news tips, contact Julian Baron at jtbaron@sbgtv.com or X.
