Eco-Warriors Arrested for Daring Protest at Stonehenge: A Closer Look

Environmental Activists Detained for Vandalizing Stonehenge with Orange Paint

Two climate activists from the group Just Stop Oil were arrested after spraying orange paint on Stonehenge. The group, which advocates for the phasing out of fossil fuels in the UK, has been organizing a series of protests to draw attention to the urgency of addressing the climate crisis.

Niamh Lynch, a 21-year-old student at Oxford University, and Rajan Naidu, a 73-year-old from Birmingham, were involved in the incident at Stonehenge. They have engaged in various forms of protest, including defacing famous artwork and disrupting events to raise awareness about the need to transition away from oil, gas and coal by 2030.

The Wiltshire Police reported that two individuals were arrested on suspicion of damaging the ancient monument but did not release their names. English Heritage, the organization responsible for managing Stonehenge, condemned the vandalism but assured visitors that they can still visit the site. British politicians expressed outrage at the incident, calling it a disgraceful act of vandalism against one of the world’s oldest and most significant monuments.
