A young man in his early 20s suffered severe injuries to his arm while operating a straw rolling machine at work. The incident resulted in the crushing of his humerus and forearm, as well as the complete severance of the upper 1/3 of his left brachial artery, blood vessels, and nerves.

The victim was initially treated with first aid at a nearby medical facility before being transferred to Xuyen A Long An General Hospital for further treatment. Upon examination and CT scan, it was discovered that the damage was extensive and required immediate attention.

Doctor Nguyen Tuan Khanh, Head of the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics, explained that the young man arrived at the hospital in a critical condition. After consulting with other doctors, it was decided that amputation was the best course of action to save the patient’s life.

The surgery involved removing the crushed area, cleaning the wound multiple times with water, and shaping the stump of the lower 1/3 of the left arm. The patient was closely monitored post-surgery and received treatment for wound infection with antibiotics.

The doctor emphasized the importance of workplace safety and urged people to take necessary precautions and follow safety regulations. This incident serves as a reminder that certain occupations come with risks and proper safety measures should be taken to prevent accidents like this from happening again. The patient has since been discharged from the hospital after receiving appropriate care and treatment.
